getting rid of the excess.
I admit it, I’m sort of a pack rat. I don’t like this about myself but I’ve just managed to accumulate so much stuff in the last 10 years. Then, getting married 3 years ago to a musician and living in a tiny 800-sq ft apartment doesn’t help. Between the two of us, we’ve got enough books and cds and music equipment to last us for decades.
Since we signed another lease (a 2-year one this time, locked in a great rate!), I figured it would be highly advantageous for us to continually go through our stuff and get rid of the unnecessary. My thinking is, if we’ve got a tiny apartment and have too much stuff, how will we be like once we get a house? Time to put a stop to stuff and time to get rid of the excess.
And that’s what we’ve done, this weekend.
Took our daybed to my parents’ house for storage, got rid of our old TV cart that held various items that were not TV-related, put stuff by the dumpster in hopes that others kind find some use for them, put together a new bookshelf, moved furniture and re-organized. We like the changes. But this is only the beginning – once I’ve figured out new decor, I’ll post pictures.
I’m really all about simplicity. Not having too much stuff in my life and getting bogged down by the things of this world. Getting rid of the excess.
